DOT: Wow! Five
months has already past. Many things had happened to us and to the
ministry! There are several memorable events for us.
ERIK: For me, It was my Malaysia-Singapore
experience last Aug 20 to Sept 2. IVCF sent me (with Bacolod
staffworker Yvette) to attend Ada Lum's Bible Study Trainors'
Training Conference and IFES East Asia Junior Staff Conference in
Malaysia. I was really inspired by Ms. Ada Lum's life and ministry.
I enjoyed my stay in Malaysia because of the good people I met. I
was also blessed with our side trip to Singapore because of the
hospitality of the Buenconsejo family (kuya Rod, ate Nellie, Urian
and Joanna). They have shared so much with us. My joy would have
been complete if Dot was with me.
DOT:
That time was very challenging for me. It was quite difficult
visiting campuses with Zeik and conducting BS with all his "I
want your attention, Mom" actions. I was happy for Erik's
wonderful experience abroad. I wish I were with him, too. What about
our most challenging experiences?
ERIK: I would
say that it was the continuous travels. In June we went to Bulacan
for the Staff Conference. In August I went to Dagupan and Abra with
our GT Jun Dolino. Then I went to Malaysia and Singapore. A week
after that (September) I had to go to the IVCF National Office for
the Appreciative Inquiry training. Last month, before LC-DC we had
to go to La Union and Pangasinan. Immediately after those trips we
went to Abra again. It may be one reason why I still feel pain at
the back of my neck. It was very tiring, but also exciting.
How about our
exciting moments last semester?
DOT: The
fellowship group at Saint Louis University was very exciting. Every
time we met, there was always a new student who came. Around 10 to
12 students joined our meetings regularly. Most of them are
non-Christians but all of them were very enthusiastic and eager to
learn about what God's will is and how to live lives that are
pleasing to Him. I pray that this second semester, they will still
have the same zeal and excitement in learning from and experiencing
God.
Zeik, too is pretty
exciting. He enjoys singing (like me), knows his alphabet and
numbers. He likes to draw, color, paint, and read. He has memorized
some nursery rhymes, Sunday school songs, and even jingles of
cartoon shows and advertisements. He is also very expressive and
appreciative. We are really enjoying him so much.
ERIK: Yes,
Zeik is such a blessing. I am also blessed with our regional
Leadership - Discipleship Training camp last Oct 23-28. It was so
good to see many campers from Abra, Vigan, Benguet, Baguio,
Pangasinan and even Manila. God has shown himself faithful and in
control during that camp. It was my joy again to see students
touched by the power of God and committed to keep their faith in
Christ. |
